Working in groups of three you will design a flyer and create and narrate a PowerPoint presentation.

Part 1: Flyer

Each member of the group will design his/her own flyer which will provide information about your travel presentation. By creating different flyers you get several opportunities to attract attention to your cause and entice people to attend.

Your flyer should:

• contain all pertinent information (who, what, where, when, why)
• use color, text and graphics to enhance information and attract attention
• demonstrate knowledge of the do's and don'ts of creating a flyer

Your flyer will be assessed according to the Project Evaluation form.

Part 2: Presentation

Each member of the group will be responsible for gathering information. Divide the topics below evenly among the three of you and use notecards to record all your facts. (Make sure to follow the guidelines for notecards outlined in your study skills handbook.) In addition, you will each need to create a folder in which to save pictures related to your topic.

After collecting all your information you are ready to create your slide show. The presentation should contain no less than 12 or more than 15 slides and must include the following:

• a map of the area
• information about the weather
• type of scenery for which the area is known (is it mountanous, in the city, a beach community, etc.)
• notable landmarks
• outdoor activities (boating, skiing, hiking, snorkeling, etc.)
• special attractions (amusement parks, beaches, museums, monuments, etc.)

In order to make the presentation as persuasive as possible the text should be:

• limited to one sentence or a few bulleted items per slide
• exciting, capturing the imagination by using adjectives such as eye-popping, inspiring, intoxicating, rousing, stimulating, stirring, arresting, intriguing, moving, provocative, thrilling, etc.

In order to make the presentation as interesting and exciting as possible you will also need to include:

• pictures (click art and photos) which you have downloaded or scanned
• animations
• video (if possible)
• transitions (both between slides and on each individual slide)
• sound (where appropriate)

Part 3: Narration

Now that your presentation has been completed, decide who will make the presentation, although each person should be prepared to answer questions.

To communicate well, be sure that you

• speak loudly and clearly
• pause between ideas and do not speak too fast (or too slow)
• use your voice expressively
• make eye contact with the audience
• use your time well
