Introduction

Before the murder of Emmett Till, there were many conflicts between the white and black communities. For example, whites and blacks didn’t go to the same school. They couldn’t work at the same place. They also couldn’t use the same bathrooms or drinking fountains. These were only some conflicts between the whites and blacks. All of these conflicts were because of the Jim Crow Laws. But segregation started before the Jim Crow Laws as well as, lynching, the KKK, and Parchman Farms. These were only a few of the hardships blacks went through.
